About Us

We are a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens who want to change the world. We are a mix of dreamers and doers.

We are a forming community, seeking land to start a self-sufficient community with aspirations towards an eco-village.

We are seeking home in a temperate climate in the United States.

INTERNAL FOCUS:
Our hope is to make self-sufficiency one of our main goals. In this spirit, we plan to grow most of our own food, build our own structures, home school our children, compost our organic waste, live consciously as part of our local ecosystem, and as much as possible close our resource loop and live within our solar budget.

We value open, honest, clear, non-violent communication. We believe that creating a culture based on this quality of communicating is the foundation for healthy, sustainable social interaction and is therefore a very high priority. We hope to co-create shared community processes starting from this premise, drawing upon the visions of pioneering dreamers past.

EXTERNAL FOCUS:
We also plan to prioritize having an active external focus comprised of outreach, education, contributions to local and regional culture and economy, activism, and hosting gatherings of all sorts to bring people together.

We are looking for co-conspirators and companions in love, laughter, and culture change. We want to enter into community with folks we feel strong affinity and connection with.

alighting

we've chosen the working name alighting for our community because it captures the spirit of many of the qualities that we feel inspired by.

alight [verb]
1: get off, step off, disembark from, pile out of; detrain, deplane; dismount
he alighted from the train

2: land, come to rest, settle, perch, light
a swallow alighted on a branch

alight [adjective]
1: burning, ablaze, aflame, on fire, in flames, blazing
the bales of hay were alight

2: lit up, gleaming, glowing, aglow, ablaze, bright, shining, resplendent, radiant
her face was alight with laughter

We hope to alight (verb 1) from the dominator-consumer model of society. To opt out, to step off that train that is so destructive and hollow of life and light. We hope to alight (verb 2) on a piece of earth somewhere and consciously co-create a new model for how to live in joy and sustainability.

We identify as creatures of light and our hearts are alight (adjective 1) with energy, magik and love. From this place of power, we seek to contrubute to a culture that is alight (adjective 2) with hope and inspiration.
